With often 600 plus residents at the Noel, toilets, showers and sewage areas were vastly overused. Mains water was erratic and lack of funding often meant toilet paper and soap was severely rationed.<\/p>\n

Refurbishments went someway to ease the unpleasantness of the toilet blocks and efficiency of the sewers but monitoring their use was difficult for the overworked staff.<\/p>\n

The wash house was always busy and mostly done by hand in cold water although an industrial machine was donated.<\/p>\n<\/div>
